Creations beginning again.

After a long summer of many little trips away to weddings and family holidays (my husband is a teacher and I work from home so we had the luxury of 6 weeks together) I didn't get much done so im enjoying going back to basics and playing with colour and stitches to see where it takes me. Hopefully this little guy will be part of a very cute dress/tunic to be worn with leggings.
A lot of people wouldnt complain about being away from home so much for summer but I feel totally out of practice now and like I've missed the busiest season! Anyone else feel the same? Or did summer bring time and inspiration to you?

Hello!

I've been away all summer and not got much done in the way of sewing! :( Finally finished my sisters cardigan though and I'm quite proud of it - it has 5 teacup buttons and 1 teapot button at the top! Also the crochet round the neckline and sleeves is just plain sweet :) Love love love it.

Etsy vintage find!

I think this jumper is so crazy noone else wanted it so it was a real bargain! Less than 20pounds to buy AND post over from america - wow! Now, I just hope it fits :-) its so beautiful, lol. Etsy is still as amazing as the day I found it. Posting new bags this week, they are just trial runs so not very exciting but still pretty. Have a peek! www.ilovemysewingmachine.etsy.com

TARTAN TULIP DRESS SPRING/SUMMER 09

Here is my first design for spring/summer 09, I have two more but they are still just sketches. I'm really pleased with how it turned out - although the neckline could do with being widened an inch or so. It looks even better on but my camera skills arent the greatest when it comes to taking pictures of myself so youl have to wait till I get my sister to take some! Now I just have to decide on a price for my shop. I'm thinking in the region of £70, would you pay that?

hmm, it's dear husbands 30th in 23 days and it's probably time I start thinking about making him something. We bought him a guitar pedal he's been wanting for years but I should really make him something else too, any ideas you crafty girlies can show me?

Do you like my dress btw? I made it myself! I felt like an absolute princess that day and the snow was just gorgeous!! Click on the photo for a better look :)

I made my first quilt today! I used one Moda Recess charm pack and 3 metres of coloured cottons. Some of the seams don't match up but for my first attempt I'm loving it!! It took my mum, my sis and I hours to figure out a pattern to go with but in the end I kept it simple with the charms in the middle and 3 borders of coloured squares the same size.

I LOVE anything square so I'm very pleased I now have a square quilt, the only problem is I don't know where it's going to go!! :-D

Craft Sewing Rocks!

Check out the amazing turtle I made from the latest issue of 'Sew Hip', if only I didn't promise him to my sister!

It was a really easy pattern to follow for an experienced textiler but if you were new to sewing it could have been difficult to know which way up patter pieces went as there was no indication. The whole process took me about 3 hours although im sure I could have done it much quicker if I had to. It was a nice relaxing time filler for me on a lazy afternoon. If you've never made such a thing before, I recommend you try it, its great fun seeing the end result! I've already started on a Hippo from a previous issue!
